In the future, remind me that drinking half a bottle of strong wine with one friend, then going to a Super Bowl party with other friends & drinking beer there, and not eating is a very, very bad combo.
Here is a favorite video clip as of late. Cracked up laughing.

Laughing
I woke up with this Regina Spektor song in my head. It is one of those songs that is convicting without browbeating. I've been thinking a lot lately about my personal relationship with God--exactly what that looks like, how it manifests itself in my interpersonal relationships--how it changes and what I really do want from it.
I don't know.
I don't know.

Somebody Understands
I can't stop thinking about the shooting of the abortion doctor in Wichita.
I'm disgusted by it; haunted that someone could be so hated for doing what is, by law, legal. It doesn't really matter whether one deems it immoral; it is within the law and thus the choice belongs to the woman and the doctor, not to some perceived moral cause.
But we have those who claim to be protectors of "innocents" who find it their moral obligation to assassinate those with whom they disagree. Before this murder, Dr. Tiller had had his clinic bombed and he had been shot. Twice. His family received death threats; he was taken to court on multiple occasions under paper-thin allegations. And he kept practicing, because he believed so strongly in a woman's right to choose. And so a single bullet met him in the foyer of his church, as he served as an usher. How ironic that he'd be killed there. I wonder how many "houses of worship" put on the face of condemnation at this act while secretly singing "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead". I cannot fathom how those who espouse the worth of unborn “life” can in the same breath advocate the outright murder of a doctor working within the lines of legality. It makes my blood absolutely boil.
The right to choose is not the same as advocating abortion: it is simply asking that a choice be possible, that the decision rest in the hands of the woman and not in the hands of the church or the government.

a bullet ensuring the right to life
whizzed past his kid & his wife
and knocked his glasses right off of his face
and the blood poured off the pulpit
and the blood poured down the picket line
and the hatred was immediate
and the vengeance was divine."
In 1998 Ani DiFranco released the song, "Hello, Birmingham" about the shootings of abortion doctors. I post a video to it now; the words are powerful even as the video is shoddy.
"A bullet came to visit a doctor in his one safe placea bullet ensuring the right to life
whizzed past his kid & his wife
and knocked his glasses right off of his face
and the blood poured off the pulpit
and the blood poured down the picket line
and the hatred was immediate
and the vengeance was divine."
Turn Around Bright Eyes
Ok it's not as funny as the literal version of "Take On Me" but it's still pretty great. I wrote up a blog about the weekend I just had and I'll get it up soon enough, but hopefully this will keep you entertained until then...
This is also my favorite song to do in SingStar. Because I am a SingStar master. And that's how I roll.

Special thanks to Ian and Tammy, who shared this gem this weekend and has had me laughing for about four days straight. I mean that's funny stuff right there.

"We're the Dancers...."
Video of the mornin' to ya!
Saw this skit from SNL on Saturday and it's nice to know they can still do some funny things. Helps having Justin Timberlake around, that guy really is hilarious.
It wasn't on NBC so I had to find it on youtube (which is where I watched it).

I'd Like to Phone a Friend...
Once again, SNL...hilarious.
"When cornered, you become increasingly adorable. Is that fair to say?"
And, if possible, this whole impression has made me more smitten with Tina Fey. I want to buy her a BFF necklace or at least get her to blog about the debates. Or just have a blog. And be my BFF.

John McCain is Buggin'...
Oh Huffington Post, I love you for things like this...
P.Diddy's take on the Sarah Palin announcement. I have no idea why he is spinning most of this video, but it's just great. He's crazy. Just go look up Diddy's Video Blog on Youtube and you will thank me. Specifically look up "Bitchassness Alert Level Orange"

I Hate Drake
Umm....this is just hilarious. You know you wrote like this as a kid. "Mortified" is a live comedy show that lets people read their real childhood writings. Just...wow. "That is the worse curse ever, and he is."
(warning: there are them curse words.)

Oh Kathleen
K how much do I love Kathleen Edwards? What a great friggin' show last night. She just rocked out the Grey Eagle, she's definitely a lively show, someone who looks like they are just having a blast doing what they do. New album is also worth a listen--she's alt-country future.
I got to talk to her for a bit after the show; we had a lively conversation about lake effect snow, mutual hatred of portions of the New York State Thruway and how The Birchmere (outside DC) used to be a grocery store. I want her to be my BFF. I feel it could happen. She likes whiskey.
Here's her blog. Which I like. Cuz I like her and all. Here's the vid for "The Cheapest Key" but the clean version...enjoy.

Two Vids for You
So I don't have too much to say...still trying to finish the flooring projects. Ugh.
Anyway, ya'll should have these. The first is misheard lyrics about the Sean Paul song "Temperature" which my friend Brandt and I always joked would be a great karaoke song because it's the most nonsensical thing out there. This is still nonsensical, but it's more fun nonsensical.
And this one...well...it's a satire on hip-hop. It's full of cursing, so just watch where you play it, but it is pretty dang funny. Thanks to Doug for sending this one to me. Now here it is, "Read a Book":
R-E-A-D A B-O-OKAY!

Obama-Nation
I don't know how you feel about Obama but that dude is inspiring. This is his speech after winning Iowa on the 3rd. Seriously. I want to hear this guy talk all the freaking time. I'm not gonna lie, I got teary-eyed listening to it. I mean really.
