I have a lot to say but haven't formulated the words and/or modes to say it. Stuff with Biblical feminism, woodworking, etc.
Nugget today:
Energy bill is in the Senate, to be voted on today.
Ugh.
Do you really want more nuclear power plants built? How about major tax breaks for the oil and coal industries? Little or no relief from the prices at the pump? There are better solutions.
Call your Senators.
Call the White House (202/456.1414)

I am happy to report that both Senator Clinton and Senator Schumer of New York voted against the energy bill.
And I'd like to point out that you, my dear, now live in Jersey.
Ah yes, ‘tis true. I have, in fact, chosen to live in this wonderful state they call dirty Jerz! (The Garden State? Huh?) So, I report that Senator Corzine and Senator Lautenberg of New Jersey also voted against the bill. At the risk of exposing my separation anxiety from my native land, I must say that I am technically a resident of NY, my car is registered and insured in NY, my drivers license is NY, I vote in NY, I have an I “heart” NY bumper sticker, and all of my state taxes are paid to NY, as I am also employed here. Interestingly enough, as a member of NYC’s energy industry, my duties include trips up to Albany (New York State capital) to meet with the NYS Public Service Commission: the governmental body who approves/rejects utility’s plans based on federal and state laws to protect the public, power reliability, and the environment. Thus justifying my vested interest in the way the New York State Senators represent, yo.
I suppose in the big picture, it matters little what stance individual states had in the end. The Nays got crushed by the Yeas. Most importantly, I gather that your post's purpose was to get folks to educate themselves on this, outside of personal political views, per se. It's interesting stuff, and it certainly got me to read up a little more on the bill. I can’t really say that I actually DID call my senators…but next time, I'll call...um, all 4 of them? :)
